Something egregious happened to Ariana Grande on Instagram. It seems the popular singer was forced to disable the comments section of her Instagram account. The reason why is tied to the death of her ex, Mac Miller; found Friday, September 7th around noon in his home in the San Fernando Valley. It is thought he died of an overdose. Miller had been suffering from sobriety issues for years.

Which brings the conversation to the shockingly insane reason Ms. Grande had to disable her comments section. People were blaming her for Miller’s death. Fanatical comments included: “This is all your fault” “You left him at his lowest point” and “He died of a broken heart.” In all, Grande endured massive abuse at the hands of supposed fans.

She was not spared on Twitter, either. Thousands tweeted saying it was Grande’s fault Miller overdosed. The tweeters stated it was plain to see he did so because of a broken heart. What do the tweeters mean? In May, Grande called it quits with the rapper due to rampant drug abuse, and the effects of said abuse. Apparently, she was supposed to stay aboard ship and let him take her down with him.

In answer to the comments of fans, Grande had this to say: “I am not a babysitter or a mother and no woman should feel that they need to be. I have cared for him and tried to support his sobriety & prayed for his balance for years.” She added, “Of course I didn’t share about how hard or scary it was while it was happening but it was.” The singer’s honest replies are absolutely correct on how to help substance abusers — do not enable them. Some people call it tough love. It appears she had significantly suffered while with the rapper.

The Elephant in the Room

Substance abuse is an epidemic in America today. It is not only the ones using these drugs who suffer. Loved ones are subjected to various levels of hell every day due to this affliction poisoning society. Numerous reports are coming in from police and medical personnel nationwide. • arrests and prison time
  • serious health problems up to and including death

Family members live in perpetual fear, abuse, and neglect at the hands of an addict. Keep in mind, these things are in addition to what addicts themselves suffer. Right here is an excellent place to say if you or a loved one is suffering from substance abuse, please get help. Please, for your sake and theirs, just do it.

Fighting Substance Abuse

The sickening display of fans on Twitter and Instagram is proof of hardened hearts towards victims of substance abuse. The idea that Grande should have stayed in a toxic relationship which kept her in constant fear is as anti-woman as it gets. Grief or no grief, no one has the right to blame a victim of substance, or any other abuse. In addition to that, it does not directly address the real culprit.

The good news is there is hope on the horizon. The Trump Administration is fighting back. From

“A PUBLIC HEALTH EMERGENCY: President Donald J. Trump is mobilizing his entire Administration to address drug addiction and opioid abuse by directing the declaration of a Nationwide Public Health Emergency to address the opioids crisis.

The action allows for expanded access to telemedicine services, including services involving remote prescribing of medications commonly used for substance abuse or mental health treatment
The action helps overcome bureaucratic delays and inefficiencies in the hiring process, by allowing the Department of Health and Human Services to more quickly make temporary appointments of specialists with the tools and talent needed to respond effectively to our Nation’s ongoing public health emergency. The action allows the Department of Labor to issue dislocated worker grants to help workers who have been displaced from the workforce because of the opioid crisis, subject to available funding. The action allows for the shifting of resources within HIV/AIDS programs to help people eligible for those programs to receive substance abuse treatment, which is essential given the connection between HIV transmission and substance abuse.”

The President has declared a national health emergency and has directed his administration to work on combating substance abuse and helping its victims, including addicts. Again, from

“Since President Trump took office, more than $1 billion in funding has been allocated or spent directly addressing the drug addiction and opioid crisis
Since April, more than $800 million has been distributed for prevention, treatment, first responders, prescription drug monitoring programs, recovery and other care in communities, inpatient settings, and correctional systems
Since the President took office, $254 million in funding for high-risk communities, law enforcement, and first responder coordination and work has been awarded.”

Tough Love for Abusers, Not Their Victims

Mac Miller left this world way too soon. What happened to him was a tragedy of epic proportions, as he had been on the cusp of what promised to be a very successful career. Condolences should be given to all who loved him. If his fans truly wish to honor him, they would cease blaming Ariana Grande for his death, and start comforting one another and, more importantly, the singer in her time of loss.
