Newly Released Documents Show White House Ignored Commanders’ Warnings
According to an Army intelligence analysis, the White House and senior Pentagon personnel were unaware of how rapidly the Taliban took control of Afghanistan before removing troops.
The Washington Post reported that the White House and Pentagon leaders opposed military officials’ efforts to prepare for the departure of its embassy workers and Afghan partners weeks earlier.
Army Investigation
A 2,000-page Army investigation report obtained by The Washington Post through a Freedom of Information Act request details the daily life-or-death decisions made by U.S. soldiers and Marines sent to secure Hamid Karzai International Airport as thousands converged on the airport in a frantic bid to flee the country.
