This Saturday, July 4th, we celebrate the founding of our country. Our 244th Birthday. Usually, a happy celebration of our Independence, it is becoming usurped and stolen by powerful forces wishing to remove our heritage and our liberty from us. Slowly, distributing a meaning of our Nation so profoundly disgusting it is becoming unrecognizable.
Obviously, many on the left are using this moment in time to stoke flames of hatred. Attempting to destroy us from within ourselves.
Our Country is A Shining City
The 1619 Project claims our Country and our foundation is entirely based upon racist ideology. They believe that racism is the sole source of our foundation. The left-wing media, Democrats, and liberals love this. They seem to have a visceral hatred of our country. Hating the standards and principles of freedom upon which we have founded our Nation.
in 2019, the NY Times created The 1619 Project as a proclamation of “truth.” Peddling an illegitimate theory by a Marxist historian “as fact,” the 1619 Project portrays the foundation of our country as entirely based upon a racist ideology. They believe that racism is the sole source of our Country’s foundation.
But our country is more than that. We are the shining city on the hill, which Ronald Reagan so wonderfully painted for us over a generation ago. We have liberated and helped build societies all over this world. While imperfect, our country stands for more than a past of injustice.
Purpose of Opposition
Applying the simple purpose, any country built on a foundation of racism is ultimately illegitimate. This thinking obfuscates all reality. It is the foundational platform for groups like BLM and ANTIFA. They are using our past as their excuse to incite riot and destruction. The ultimate goal: obliterate our past. Similarly, this is how Totalitarian regimes begin. By destroying the history. Many are buying this legacy as fact.
The riots occurring throughout our Nation, come from flames stoked by our enemies. It is based upon false doctrine that we have been unknowingly teaching our children for over 30 years. Instead of the reality of our Nation, our enemies changed what we teach fomenting anger. All built on a foundation of lies.
Can we Forgive our Past Sins?
A good friend once said to me that I could never understand slavery from a black man’s perspective. Since I am not black, I cannot understand what he feels. As a black American, he acknowledges that this country is his home. Yet he strongly feels his ancestors came here against their will. Firmly believing in compensation for that crime.
Unfortunately, along with others like him, he also feels that not enough is being done. He firmly believes there is still institutional racism in our country. Will doing more or compensation solve the problem? What are the terms of satisfaction? When will it end? Clearly, forgiveness is needed. It is sad that forgiveness is so far away.
The underlying principle is found in a judgment of others. No one in the world can know or understand anyone’s motivation. Finally, no one can understand anyone’s intentions either (though CNN thinks they can do this daily).
The primary question is in understanding why individuals owned slaves. Subsequently, we are judging all in the early days of our country singularly.
Delegitimizing our Country’s Motives
There is a motive. It is to delegitimize the foundation of our county. Achieving the goal subsequently, pushes our country towards a globalist socialist world.
Ever since Howard Zinn, an avowed Marxist published “The People’s History of the United States,” in 1980; we have been making untrue judgments about our founders, Similarly, along with the NY Times they purposefully leave out key exculpatory statements made (unethically of course). In other words, all quietly done to make their racism point. For instance, why are Jefferson’s anti-slavery writings never quoted in his defense? Because a Marxist ideology is slowly re-writing our history. In short, facts be damned.
I know in my heart that slavery is an abhorrent practice. Moreover, many at the time of our founding never wanted the scourge of slavery to continue. But many were powerless to do anything about it.
Certainly, there are evil people in this world, possibly rendering helpless people that could change it. History tells us that there are individuals from all walks of life who seek to hurt others. Slavery can only live in that world.
Judging Our Past by Today’s Standards
I believe that judging the past from today’s perspective is another despicable form of evil behavior. Above all, no forgiveness can be allowed when that belief is present.
Judgments based on hatred are vehicles to produce the desired result. It is important to understand that the men who signed the Declaration of Independence had a higher objective and purpose. The Preamble of that document clearly states the objective of our Nation. It is arguably, our country’s Mission Statement
The Mission Statement of the United States of America
The purpose of a mission statement is a formal summary of the aims and values of a company, organization, or individual. – Oxford Dictionary
The Declaration of Independence is not the final document in our Nation’s history. It was only the first. It outlined the values of our aspiring country of Thirteen(13) independent Colonies. Collectively, they were states looking for independence from the most powerful Nation in the world. It is important to look at it from the perspective of our Mission Statement.
Similar to all mission statements, the stated “goal,” is an aspiration that will be achieved. The purpose of the Declaration of independence was to create foundational values on which our country would build itself. Above all, they created an honorable goal. This new country would stand itself upon values prescribed in the Preamble.
The Preamble to the Declaration of Independence
“The Declaration of Independence…[is the] declaratory charter of our rights, and of the rights of man.” — Thomas Jefferson
It is impossible to look at this document from today’s perspective. Doing so, we lose all insight into the past. 1,600 years ago, Jesus laid out the rights of Christianity, during his Sermon on the Mount. They were Radical statements at the time which changed the world forever. 244 years ago, our founders also made radical statements that also changed the world. The first sentence of the Preamble to the Declaration of Independence:
We hold these Truths to be self-evident that all Men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty, and the pursuit of Happiness
— Preamble to the Declaration of Independence.
Our Founding Principles
Subsequently, these were words that shocked the world; then felt for years to come, and well into the present.
The words of the Preamble were never uttered as a founding principle of Government. No government in history was ever founded on principles given from God. Ultimately, this becomes the Mission statement for our country:
—That to secure these Rights, Governments are instituted among Men, deriving their just Powers from the Consent of the Governed.
Certainly, these words never occur to our current Democrat leaders and Governors. Unfortunately, our current leaders do not acknowledge this as the earth shattering concept it is. Continuing to force their will upon people. These leaders never acknowledge the Declaration of Independence as the foundation of our Republic. It is up to us to remind them where their power comes from.
Our leaders learn from their elections that they need only do what they think is best for their re-election, not for the people they represent. Why not? We re-elect them in record numbers. Instead they ignore what we ask of them. This is why it is the most important founding principle. Nonetheless these were not only words of war; they are words for a new way of living.
The Declaration of Independence Was Edited.
The Second Continental Congress removed whole sections. Jefferson was most angered by the removal of one particular clause, a clause blaming the King for forcing the slave trade upon the American colonies.”
Jefferson understood the scourge of slavery, and like many at the time knew it needed to end. Most importantly, to move forward, others needed to be appeased. This group was going to war against the most powerful nation in existence. Requiring everyone. They were needed to win.
It is important to realize how our left-wing media never points out important nuances. Obviously, this does not suit the globalist narrative. Certainly, intentional omissions used to deceive us.
Losing Track of our Principles
Above all, we base our Country’s foundation on our Mission Statement. We must understand that we alone provide our Government its powers, through our consent. It is not the other way around. This thought is in direct opposition of socialist and marxist ideologies.
Clearly, mostly Democrat leaders lose track of this concept. Why are they are seeking to restrict our basic rights? Possibly, they do not like our government in the current form. Obviously, it is because they want more power.
Most importantly, we have only ourselves to blame with the results. Benjamin Franklin responded to a question posed to him, at the conclusion of the Constitutional Congress in 1787. What sort of Government did we get? “A Republic if you can keep it.”
Riots are not Peaceful Protests
I believe the riotous demonstrations occurring are contemptuous. It is hard to watch our country destroying itself from within. But we must understand this comes from what we have been teaching our children. The history taught for 30 years is a Marxist ideology. It explains why rioting in the streets.
The very people that should cherish their God-given rights, want to become enslaved by Government. Obviously, to succeed, they must replace our freedom ideology. Replacing it with ideology that will never allow for any dissent. Protesters have no idea they fight to become enslaved by socialism! In short, the result of what is taught in our schools and college campuses
What is Happening to our Government Today?
Our Constitution entrusts leaders to protect and defend our rights. Are they? In other words, they make an oath to defend our Constitution. Do they believe in it? Certainly our founders never envisioned this! Protesting is not rioting; destruction of property; looting; and beating of fellow American citizens. Obviously, when leaders ignore these crimes, they abdicate their responsibility. In other words, they stopped leading.
No justification can ever exist, which condones shouting down dissenting opinion. For a Republic to succeed, all opinion must be heard. No matter how much we disagree. In a Marxist / Communist regime, there is no room for alternative opinions. Yet many seem to think that concept is legitimate – mostly those from the left. Freedom ends when limits are put upon it. Speech is a primary example.
Obviously, our founders could never be happy with a press that is anything but free. No one could imagine that a liberal media would fawn over socialism. Understandably it is obvious these conglomerates in media are bought and paid to push this ideology. All while passing out fake news like opium to the masses.
Final Thoughts
On July 4, I planned to visit Independence Hall in Philadelphia to hear the annual reading of the Declaration of Independence to the people. – At this moment it is canceled
However, I affirm my belief in our great Country. Our founding documents hold the key. In conclusion, Abraham Lincoln said it best:
… —that this nation, under God, shall have a new birth of freedom—and that Government of the people, by the people, for the people, shall not perish from the earth. – Lincoln’s Gettysburg Address
