So, here’s the fallout from the whole Jussie Smollett #HateHoax. Smollett has been arrested and is in custody for disorderly conduct/filing a false police report. He faces a possible three year stretch at Stateville. According to Rafer Weigel:
Smollett’s Attorneys Respond
In what many feel is a major insult to all of Smollett’s victims, and especially white, cisgendered, heteronormative, male Trump supporters, Jussie Smollett’s attorneys issue a poorly thought out statement concerning his arrest:
“Like any other citizen, Mr. Smollett enjoys the presumption of innocence, particularly when there has been an investigation like this one where information, both true and false, has been repeatedly leaked. Given these circumstances, we intend to conduct a thorough investigation and to mount an aggressive defense.”
Not Like Any Other Citizen
In all the media hype about Smollett’s actions, amid all the victims he can rack up, there is one group that is consistently missing. MAGA country neither earned victimhood (not that we want it) nor “enjoy the presumption of innocence…” This wasn’t the only thing Trump supporters felt as a slap to the face.
Just last month, Democrats sent in Rambo and Co. to fetch Roger Stone, when Barney Fife would have been enough. From news reports, we learn Jussie Smollett’s lawyers negotiated a surrender. Jussie Smollett was treated with more class by Chicago PD than the FBI showed an old man and his deaf and frightened wife.
Superintendent Eddie Johnson sums up the harm done, as Smollett’s hate-filled boomerang returns to sender.
UPDATE: Charles Barkley Weighs In
In a hilarious ending to what could have been a disasterous race war scandal, Charles Barkley roasts Jussie Smollett in an epic episode of NBA’s half time show:
Apparently Charles Barkley couldn’t let go of the fact that Smollett used a check to pay the two Nigerian White Supremacists $3500. At one point Barkley advises all who would engage in criminality to get cash. Barkley also mentioned the Liam Neeson debacle, hilariously claiming Smollett could have just gone to the actors neighborhood and it would have solved all his problems.
