Devin Nunes, a Republican congressman from California, has formally resigned
Rep. Devin Nunes, a Republican, has formally resigned from Congress to take over as CEO of former President Donald Trump’s media firm.
Last month, Nunes announced his retirement from Congress and his appointment as CEO of Donald Trump’s new social media firm.
“It has been the honor of my life to represent the people of California’s San Joaquin Valley for the last 19 years,” Nunes wrote in his official resignation letter, which was read into the congressional record on Monday.
High Praise From Colleagues
House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy had high praise for his colleague.
“Devin Nunes is an American patriot and his service in Congress will be remembered by his singular goal of the search for truth. Every step of the way, he was proven right. Devin’s departure leaves a gaping hole in this institution but his dedication to our country will persist,” McCarthy said.
