Sanders Names Manchin and Sinema Filibuster Push: ‘Will They Vote With GOP?’
A disgruntled Sen. Bernie Sanders singled out two Democratic colleagues by name on Monday. Sanders is attempting to persuade them to repeal the Senate filibuster so they can pass voting reform legislation.
“There is only one vote that will actually count once the voting rights measure finally reaches to the Senate floor,” Sanders Tweeted.
Why So Angry, Bernie?
“Will 50 Democrats vote to overcome the filibuster, safeguard American democracy, and approve the law, or will Manchin and Sinema vote with the Republicans and allow the measure to die?”
On MSNBC, Sanders said, “I respect other people’s points of view, but I do not respect the arrogance of any member of the senate who says, ‘You know what? I’m going to torpedo this entire bill, supported overwhelmingly by the American people.”
A majority of Americans do not support the bill; in fact, opinions are split.
