Something Anti-Constitutional This Way Comes

Well met, fellow stranger. Gather ‘round, for we live in increasingly tough times. Perhaps tougher than what our forefathers called “The Great Depression,” but I highly digress. At any rate, you need not worry for much longer, for you are in good company.

For better or for worse, I, the enigmatic founding editor-in-chief Waldo Foxcott of the newly-minted American Reaction, have a great deal of news to share with you, all while sharing my own personal musings on the matter. Granted, we may more or less disagree on the matter, but that is the beauty of open discourse: to help inform the general public without having to experience any arbitrary repression whatsoever.

And now that we are well-acquainted, let us get down to the crux of the matter: the news regarding the increasingly-arbitrary Harris-Biden administration and its attempt to consolidate power on behalf of its party to which it owes its allegiance.

After reading this article from The Daily Wire, I have begun to see how far the Democrats have gone down the slippery slope of progressive globalist totalitarianism. First, they resorted to vicious attacks on their opposition (ranging from character assassination to mob incitement). Then they stooped to fabricating conspiracy theories (does anyone else remember the old, oft-debunked “Trump-Russia collusion” narrative?). Then they proceeded to engage in gaslighting, right after infiltration. And let me tell you, the Million MAGA March on January 6th was intended to be peaceful.

But once radical factions began hijacking small pockets of the movement, that’s when the Democrats were quick in providing the much-needed excuse to discredit their opposition by accusing them of inciting an “insurrection”. And now this dementia-ridden Democrat, who enacted 40+ executive orders during his first week in the Oval Office, decides to directly tamper with the US Constitution not long after he sounded the clarion call for “unity”?

In No Uncertain Terms

If I didn’t know any better, I would say it is an attempt to subdue us right after disarming us. Imagine yourself standing among the crowd with the noteworthy Patrick Henry. Imagine him there before you making a captivating speech on the Federal Constitution at the Virginia Ratifying Convention on the 9th of June, 1788, on a tense Monday. Picture him making that fiery speech during the Second Virginia Convention on March 23, 1775, at St. John’s Church. That is where he gained great renown by the attributed quote, “Give me liberty or give me death!”

Now, you can hear him speak in no uncertain terms about our right to bear arms with the following rhetorical question: “Are we at last brought to such an humiliating and debasing degradation, that we cannot be trusted with arms for our defense? Where is the difference between having our arms in possession and under our direction, and having them under the management of Congress? If our defense be the real object of having those arms, in whose hands can they be trusted with more propriety or equal safety to us, as in our own hands?”

Now think back to how it might be applied to our current era, where the Democrats are already gradually undermining our Constitution for the benefit of their own elitist interests. One might probably be wondering: “Aren’t there safeguards in place that protect the Constitution in this case?” Well, think about it for a moment: the Democratic Party has taken control of both the Executive and Legislative branches, so there is a chance that the balance of power becomes tipped in favor of a clear majority. So, it might be naïve for anyone to believe that there was never a power grab (or even a potential for such) in the works, especially when traditional Western values are at stake.

What’s at Stake

“But wait a minute,” one might say. “Don’t you think that the proposal on common-sense gun control in which the Congressional Democrats are proposing are nothing more than just legislation?” It always starts as just legislation. Then it gets implemented and involuntarily amended (more like manipulated) as much as possible until someone in Congress calls for the involvement of the Supreme Court to intervene.

This legislation, along with possible subsequent ones, could end in an atmosphere of McCarthyist fear that will put us all back into a situation where we drag even innocent people out of their homes and into camps just because they might pose a threat despite actual evidence to the contrary.

And I know from history that tyranny is certainly not what this country was built upon but rather an escape from religious persecution. “And what of the rest of the world?” one might deign to ask. “Surely, whatever happens in the US should not concern those who weren’t born there!”

Let me pose a counter-question. Just because there are some of us who weren’t born in America, do you think that excludes us from what happens in America? What the US does, the rest of the world follows in one way or another. This just happens to be one of those situations in which the entire world is intently watching for someone (especially a global superpower, in this case) to go first. And nobody can afford to rest on their laurels.

Thus, it would be safe to say that, in this day and age, the ambit of Western conservatism in the face of globalist progressivism could become a greater issue for the entire planet than the creation of the atom bomb.

If the Framers of the Constitution were alive today, aside from awe from bearing witness to the modern conveniences (think Seth Rogen’s “An American Pickle,” but with well-to-do Anglicans and Episcopalians with a shared groundbreaking vision of a civilized society), they would express dismay over the all-too-avant-garde sociopolitical climate. This isn’t just about our reasons for self-defense! This is about our inalienable right to responsibly exercise our civil liberties for generations to come.
