A Democrat official in Lansing, Michigan, who supported Black Lives Matter was allegedly shot and killed by a black 15-year-old boy while going door-to-door canvassing for a local politician.

According to reports, Ingham County Democrat Party Secretary Theodore “Ted” Lawson, 63, was knocking on doors for the campaign of Lansing City Council candidate Trini Lopez Pehliva on Sunday when Lamar Patrick Kemp and two other teens approached him asking for a dollar.

ABC News described the moments that led up to the shooting, as seen on surveillance footage of the incident:

Security video in the area recorded Lawson leaving a driveway as three teens were walking on the other side of the street, a police detective wrote in a court affidavit.

One of the three crossed the street toward Lawson before he and Lawson walked out of the camera’s view. A short time later a gunshot was heard. The video then recorded the three teens running away.

A juvenile court officer later identified each of the teens in the video. One teen told investigators he saw the 15-year-old shoot Lawson after asking Lawson for a dollar, according to the affidavit.

Interestingly, a local news report featured a years-old school photo of the 15-year-old assailant in their coverage of the story.

Kemp’s innocent schoolboy image is contrasted by photos from the boy’s social media accounts featuring him showing off guns, smoking and making gang signs, notes X user National Conservative.

Ingham County Prosecutor John Dewane said the shooting did not appear to be politically motivated, and said Kemp would be tried as an adult “due to the nature of the offense and his previous interactions with the court system,” reports ABC.

The tragic incident is just the latest example underscoring how Democrats are falling victim to their own failed inner-city policies.
