Reports coming out of the Gaza Strip claim at least eleven United Nations staffers have been killed in this week’s Israeli missile strikes on Palestine.

According to Reuters, eleven officials with the UN Palestinian refugee agency along with five members of the International Red Cross and Red Crescent died Saturday.

The Times of Israel also reported 30 students attending a UN school were killed in the bombardment.

UN Secretary-General António Guterres went to social media Wednesday to explain there are over 200,000 Palestinians sheltering at 92 UN buildings throughout Gaza and asked Israel to “never” target these facilities.

“UN staff are working to support the people of Gaza. I deeply regret that some of my colleagues have paid the ultimate price,” he wrote.

When it was first believed nine UN workers had been killed, the official UN X account posted an image stating, “Humanitarians are not a target.”

One X user also pointed out Israel’s indiscriminate barrage of rockets could very well be killing its own citizens being held captive by Hamas terrorists.

One pro-Gaza account went as far as claiming Israel lied to volunteer medical teams before intentionally striking them.

The International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC) confirmed four Palestine Red Crescent paramedics were killed when their ambulances were hit by missiles in separate incidents Wednesday.

According to NYT best-selling author Brigitte Gabriel, the dead UN staffers “ignored” warnings from Israel that airstrikes were imminent and died “as a result of their decision to stay.”

The tragic loss of lives on both sides of this bloody conflict is already too much, but it sadly appears the fighting has only just begun.
