The parameters of Hunter Biden’s sweetheart plea deal are now “more limited in scope” after it was in danger of collapsing on Wednesday during a court hearing, according to CNN.

Hunter was expected to plead guilty to two misdemeanors for failing to pay his federal taxes on time in 2017 and 2018. Biden also would have avoided being prosecuted for a felony gun charge for illegally possessing a firearm as a crack user. He was facing no jail time.

CNN reporter Kara Scannell explained that U.S. District Judge Maryellen Noreika, who is presiding over Hunter’s case, was informed that the case against Hunter was still ongoing, which meant the plea deal didn’t take into account future charges.

“So as I went back into the courtroom, the hearing had just begun again,” Scannell said. “The judge was back on the bench and she was pressing the prosecution on this investigation and the four corners of this plea agreement. One of the prosecutors said that the investigator was very much ongoing and that she asked him, ‘Well, what is not covered in this plea agreement if you are leaving the possibility for bringing other future charges?”

“Then the judge said, would this include a possible FARA charge that’s not registering as a foreign agent? The prosecutor said, ‘no, the deal would not include that.’ It was at that point that she had said to the prosecution, you know… if you can charge that, then what does this mean? And the prosecutors, she asked Hunter Biden’s attorneys about that and he said, ‘Well, then there’s no deal’.”

“And the prosecutor said, ‘then there is no deal’,” she continued. “So Biden’s team said that the plea agreement, as far as they understood it was now null and void. They were moving ahead to talk about what the next steps would be in this case. So as of right now, the deal appears to be dead and off the table, and it remains to be seen how they’re going to move forward. But he has been charged with those two misdemeanor tax evasion charges. But one thing we learned is that this investigation is very much still ongoing.”

But after a brief recess, Hunter’s lawyers and prosecutors reached an agreement to more strictly define the exact charges the plea agreement covers.

Is Biden the ultimate embarrassment to our country?

“Biden’s team is agreeing to the plea deal, but a much more limited in scope deal. Part of the issue here was the judge didn’t understand exactly what this plea agreement was covering because it seemed to be very all-encompassing,” Scannell reported.

The plea agreement will now cover only the specific misdemeanor tax charges he agreed to with the DOJ as well as the gun charge.

This development comes a day after Hunter Biden’s lawyers allegedly caused some legal drama in Hunter’s case.

Hunter’s lawyers allegedly impersonated lawyers of the House Ways and Means Committee on Tuesday to request the court scrub the original filing – and the attached 448 pages of Congressional testimony from the whistleblowers.

The real lawyer for the committee, Theodore Kittila, caught on and informed the court of the deceptive tactic.

“We promptly contacted the clerk’s office, and we were advised that someone contacted the court representing that they worked with my office and that they were asking the court to remove this from the docket,” wrote Kittila, adding “We immediately advised that this was inaccurate.”

Judge Noreika then demanded Hunter’s lawyers explain themselves.

“It appears that the caller misrepresented her identity and who she worked for in an attempt to improperly convince the clerk’s office to remove the amicus materials from the docket,” reads the order. “Therefore, it is hereby ordered that, on or before 9pm today on July 25, 2023, counsel for defendant shall show cause as to why sanctions should not be considered for misrepresentations to the court.”

Biden’s lawyers responded to the judge Wednesday, calling the incident a “misunderstanding.”

“We stand prepared to address any inquiries of the Court to rectify this misunderstanding,” the lawyers claimed. “Should the Court consider this letter and the accompanying materials to be an insufficient explanation for this misunderstanding, we request an opportunity to more fully brief and be heard on the issues of concern to the Court.”

This bizarre snafu by Hunter’s lawyers wasn’t mentioned in today’s latest courtroom twist, but his lawyers could still possibly face sanctions at the judge’s discretion for ethical violations.
