Oath Keepers founder Stewart Rhodes responded to recent comments made by Rep. Matt Gaetz (R-FL) in his first interview since being sentenced to 18 years in prison on Thursday.

In a Twitter Spaces discussion Thursday night, Gaetz was asked about Rhodes’ sentencing and he responded, “I wasn’t particularly aggrieved by” the judge’s decision.

Gaetz said of the Jan. 6th defendants, “They stood before a jury, they had every Constitutional privilege afforded defendants, they were found guilty of seditious conspiracy and if they were trying seriously to overthrow the government – One, they’re idiots. Two, they had no chance. And three, they probably deserve some punishment. I thought that the sentences would be less than they were, so I was a bit surprised by the duration but I wasn’t particularly aggrieved by them.”

The controversial statements from the GOP representative turned many heads in the conservative movement as many of them believe the non-violent Jan. 6 political prisoners are being made examples by the corrupt Biden administration.

Speaking exclusively with The Gateway Pundit on Friday, Rhodes said, “It took them a long time to finally get around to indicting me because I didn’t go inside” the Capitol building.

Regarding Gaetz’s comment, the Oath Keepers founder stated, “I’m not sure why he said that, but he needs to take a good hard look at where we are and what has been done to, not just us, but other people. What’s going to be done – to stop the insurrection against the entire MAGA movement?”

He continued, “To call us all insurrectionists, all racists, all fascists, all of us anti-democratic. When they say democracy, we are not a democracy, we’re a constitutional public. But what they really mean is our power. So when Biden says they are a threat to democracy, what it really means is they are a threat to our power.”

Is Biden the ultimate embarrassment to our country?

In a shocking revelation, Rhodes claimed he was under a gag order keeping him from talking about “an informant high in our [Oath Keepers] ranks,” adding, “I can’t tell you who it was” but that they were “hired by The New York Times.
