An older woman suffered injuries after being dragged down a street by a suspect who snatched her purse and sped away over the weekend in California, according to reports.

The disturbing incident unfolded at around 3 p.m. on Sunday in Alameda, a city in the Bay Area.

The victim, a 69-year-old female, was talking on the phone inside her parked car on a busy street when another vehicle pulled up nearby, KTVU reports.

The male driver exited his white sedan, strolled up to the woman’s Ford Mustang and suddenly grabbed her purse through the open passenger window.

Surveillance footage has been circulating on social media.

The woman can be seen jumping out and chasing after the thief as he runs back to his car.

The victim reaches into the vehicle as it begins to roll away, attempting to wrestle back her belongings.

She is dragged a few dozen feet before slamming into the pavement as the suspect escapes.

The woman was treated for head injuries and varies cuts and bruises.

She says she was most concerned with retrieving her prescription glasses when she confronted the mugger and would do it again.

“That was what pushed me to go after him, because I want(ed) my glasses,” she told KTVU. “I cannot see without glasses.”

“For me, to fight all the way to the end, I feel good about it.”

“I’m pissed off because this guy was looking for somebody, and I feel violated,” she continued. “I feel violated, but I feel good because I put (up) a fight.”

An investigation is ongoing.
