A 14-year-old girl narrowly escaped an abduction attempt by two men at a mall in Pennsylvania this week, according to authorities.

The disturbing incident unfolded at around 7 p.m. on Wednesday night in Willow Grove, a community in the suburbs of Philadelphia.

The young victim was riding down an escalator after becoming separated from her friends at the Willow Grove Park Mall when a man she didn’t know greeted her at the bottom.

The man told her his name was Alex, extended his arm, and told her to walk with him.

“The juvenile advised this male that she was underage and attempted to step away from him. As the juvenile stepped away, the male grabbed her arm, placed it in his arm and restrained her, as he led her across the mall,” the Abington Township Police Department explained in a statement.

“After some time, the juvenile was able to escape from the male’s grasp, screamed and fled from the male. Several bystanders witnessed this altercation and stepped in to prevent the male from approaching the juvenile.”

Investigators believe “Alex” may have been working with another man and that both suspects fled the area in the same vehicle.

Abington Police shared surveillance images of the suspects on social media.

“You can see by the video, he really grips her up and pulls her closer, almost like twisting her wrist,” said Abington Township Police Chief Patrick Molloy.

On Thursday, authorities apprehended 44-year-old Khalilh Evans, the primary suspect.

He can be seen wearing a shirt that says “SECURITY” as he is taken into custody by Abington Police.

Authorities have reason to believe the suspects may have approached another 14-year-old girl on the same night, and other tipsters reported similar interactions with a man matching Evans’ description in the days prior, Fox 29 reports.

An investigation and legal proceedings are ongoing.
