Former President Donald Trump faces over 100 years in prison after pleading not guilty to 34 felony counts of falsifying business records at a Manhattan court on Tuesday.
Soros-backed Manhattan DA Alvin Bragg held a press conference laying out the felony charges against the former president:
The Manhattan District Attorney’s office released its 34-count indictment, which carries a maximum sentence of 136 years.
Trump pleaded not guilty to all counts.
From the Daily Mail:
All together the charges – falsifying business records in the first degree – carry a maximum sentence of more than 100 years in prison under New York law but, even if convicted on all charges, it’s unlikely Trump would be sentenced to that much time.
The hearing lasted about an hour. Prosecutor Chris Connolly did not ask for a gag order but did address what he called threatening communications from Trump, pointing to the former president’s post predicting ‘death & destruction.’
The judge warned Trump to refrain from social media posts that could encourage unrest.
The former president silently walked into the courtroom after he surrendered, was placed under arrest and fingerprinted as press shouted questions. He avoided handcuffs and being placed in a cell but glared at the cameras as he made his way from the booking area to the face the judge.
The charges filed by the Manhattan DA’s office stem from a series of hush payments allegedly made by Trump’s former lawyer Michael Cohen to porn star Stormy Daniels preceding the 2016 presidential election.
The White House has refused to comment on Trump’s arrest Tuesday.
