An activist group dedicated to ending college COVID-19 vaccine mandates will tackle Yale University’s bivalent booster mandate at a medical choice rally on Friday.

The rally, organized by TeamRealityCT, will be held at the Connecticut university from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. to demand the university reverse its policy which requires students — but not faculty — to be vaccinated with a bivalent booster shot, which defends against the original and omicron variant, for the spring 2022 semester. The rally will be a peaceful demonstration to “learn about proper informed consent,” “support medical choice” and learn about student rights, according to the Eventbrite.

Dr. Naomi Wolf, a Yale alumna, will keynote the event. She told the Daily Caller News Foundation that she will be “highlighting information” about the vaccine, which she said can cause “severe menstrual and reproductive damage to young women and cardiac damage to young men.”

“As a Yale alumna, I’ll be noting that the Yale motto, Lux et Veritas, ‘Light and Truth,’ as well as a liberal arts education in general, stands counter to these policies of coercion, suspension of informed consent, and censorship,” she said. “I’ll point out that colleges have a moral standing ‘In Loco Parentis’ and a legal obligation not to create a dangerous context for study.”

Yale University updated its COVID-19 vaccination policy in October. Students must receive a bivalent booster by Jan. 31, 2023, to remain enrolled.

The policy confirms that all students without an approved exception are required to comply “regardless of how many previous monovalent boosters they received,” according to the university website. Students who fail to upload record of their vaccination could be referred to the Compact Review Committee and disciplined with “administrative action.”

Faculty, on the other hand, are only required to receive a primary series vaccination and a booster when eligible.

“There will be waves of lawsuits as well as criminal filings for universities physically harming a generation of young people and Yale will be at the forefront unless the institution immediately suspends its illegal mandate,” Wolf told the DCNF.

The rally’s Eventbrite claims that students were “coerced” into receiving a COVID-19 vaccine despite “healthy 18-24 year olds” not being at risk for serious COVID-19 complications.

In October, State Surgeon General Joseph A. Ladapo of Florida issued a guidance warning about increased cardiac-related death in young men. The analysis found an 84% increase in such occurrences in 18-39 year-old men within 28 days of receiving an mRNA vaccine.

Still, most states continue to recommend adults of all ages be vaccinated and boosted.

In addition to Friday’s rally, TeamRealityCT launched a fundraiser to challenge the mandate in court. The legal fund has currently raised over $4,600, and the group first plans to send a demand letter to the administration requesting the policy be put on ice.

“Yale and other elite universities set the tone for higher education policies across the nation. If Yale is pressured to drop its mandates, other schools may follow,” the fund description reads. “This is a high profile case and it’s why we ask you to participate even if you do not have a Yale affiliation.”

Yale University implemented strict guidelines students had to follow during the COVID-19 pandemic. In January 2022, students were required to quarantine in their dorms after returning from the winter break until they obtained a negative test, Yale Daily News reported. The university also implemented a campus-wide quarantine which barred students from leaving the premises including to visit local businesses or restaurants.

However, Yale University is not the only university requiring students to obtain a bivalent booster shot.

Fordham University required students obtain a bivalent booster shot by Nov. 1. Harvard University, Tufts University and Wellesley College also mandate a bivalent shot.

Yale University and TeamRealityCT did not immediately respond to the DCNF’s request for comment.
