Fox News host Jesse Watters ripped delayed election results in Arizona and Nevada Thursday, citing the gubernatorial and Senate races in both states.
“What’s is taking Arizona and Nevada so long? Arizona doesn’t even start counting early votes until Election Day. They want the drama. They want delayed results. They designed it this way. They start with mail-in ballots, then they count day of ballots, and then they finally get around to drop off ballots,” Watters said. “Heaven forbid you count everything at the same time. That would make too much sense. And are they even counting around the clock? Of course not. Poll workers only work from 9:00 to 5:00. What’s the hurry anyway? It’s just an election.”
Election officials in Arizona and Nevada said that they were moving as quickly as they could, with at least 290,000 early ballots left to be counted in Maricopa County, Arizona, and 50,000 ballots to be counted in Clark County, Nevada.
“If you drop off an early ballot, it means it has to come in on Wednesday and start the process of being signature verified,” Maricopa County election official Bill Gates told CNN. “We have experts here who go through, compare the signature on the outside of the ballot envelope with the signature that we have in our voter registration file, so that takes a while, cause we gotta get that right.”
WATCH:
In Nevada, Republican gubernatorial candidate Joe Lombardo is leading Democratic Gov. Steve Sisolak while Senate candidate Adam Laxalt, a former attorney general, leads Democratic Sen. Catherine Cortez Masto as of Thursday evening.
In Arizona, Republican gubernatorial candidate Kari Lake trails Democratic Secretary of State Katie Hobbs by a razor-thin margin with 71% of the vote in. Republican Senate candidate Blake Masters trails Democratic Sen. Mark Kelly by 5.5%.
“If we are lucky we will know the results in another three days. Nevada can’t even figure out how to work their cameras at some of these polling locations. They all went dark in Washoe County last night. No big deal. I’m sure nothing illegal happened when the lights were out and the cameras were off,” Watters said. “Over in Arizona, Blake Masters has been making some gains in the Senate race against Mark Kelly but he is still down about five. The governor’s race on the other hand is a dead heat. Republican Kari Lake is pretty much neck and neck with Katie Hobbs. And we think the remaining votes could give her a boost. But, when are those votes coming in? Well, Maricopa County has about 400,000 votes left to count, can’t figure it out.”
Over 20% of Maricopa County’s tabulators malfunctioned during Tuesday’s election, prompting an apology from local authorities.
Hobbs and Nevada Secretary of State Barbara Cegavske did not immediately respond to requests for comment from the Daily Caller News Foundation.
