The Republican National Committee joined its Arizona statewide candidates in a lawsuit Tuesday demanding that voting hours in Maricopa County be extended until 10 p.m. local time, in light of voting delays and voting machine issues.

Malfunctions reportedly beset ballot tabulation devices and printers at more than 35% of Maricopa County’s voting centers, with County Registrar Stephen Richer pledging that every legal vote would still be tabulated. The Arizona Superior Court lawsuit featuring the RNC, National Republican Senatorial Committee, gubernatorial candidate Kari Lake and Senate candidate Blake Masters called for extending operating hours at all the county’s voting centers to 10 p.m. and stopping the release of early tabulation results there until an hour later.

“The widespread issues – in an election administered by Democrat Secretary of State Katie Hobbs – are completely unacceptable, especially as Republicans flock to the polls to vote in-person on Election Day,” RNC Chair Ronna McDaniel tweeted.

Masters led the Senate race 48% to 47% over Democratic Arizona Sen. Mark Kelly in a Friday Emerson College poll. A Nov. 5 to 7 Trafalgar Group poll saw Lake ahead of Democratic gubernatorial candidate Katie Hobbs 50.5% to 46.9%.
