Protection from Lawsuits in Qualified Immunity Cases

The United States Supreme Court has issued two key opinions in favor of police personnel.
In a pair of instances involving qualified immunity, the nation’s highest court overturned two verdicts and gave law enforcement significant victories.
Republicans are overwhelmingly in favor of qualified immunity, arguing that removing it would expose cops to lawsuits for practically every difficult call they make on the job. According to them, this would make it practically impossible to recruit and maintain good police.
The Supreme Court overturned two federal appellate courts that had permitted excessive force claims against police officers to proceed.
