5th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals Cancelled Hearing on the Matter
A law banning most abortions in Texas is set to go into effect Wednesday after the 5th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals canceled a hearing on the matter. Texas GOP Gov. Greg Abbott signed Senate Bill 8 back in May, which prohibits abortions following the detection of a fetal heartbeat, which can occur as early as six weeks into a pregnancy.
The measure also allows members of the public to file a lawsuit against doctors they claim violated the law, The Hill reported. Nearly two dozen abortion providers were looking to block the law from going into effect.
