From Conservative Brief:
A group of progressive protesters targeted the home of Republican Texas Sen. Ted Cruz and eight were arrested, demanding Joe Biden stop negotiating with Republicans and pass New York Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez’s civilian climate corp plan.
“The large majority of the group are extremely peaceful out there expressing the First Amendment rights [to] protest against climate change,” Assistant Police Chief Ban Tien said after the protest in a video shared on Facebook.
“Unfortunately, there was a small group who [was] actually committing trespassing into private property in front of the senator’s residence,” he said.
“Roughly eight individuals still refused to leave and we finally gave one final warning. And those individuals still refused to leave. And we explained to them the fact that they were violating a trespassing law,” the officer said.
“They acknowledged they understood and they chose to be arrested,” he said.
Texas Tribune reporter Erin Douglas posted about the protest, and shared pictures, on Twitter.
“About 50 @sunrisemvmt protesters outside of Ted Cruz Houston home today demanding Biden stop negotiations with the GOP and pass @AOC civilian climate corps plan. A few are on the lawn as the crowd sings “Whose side are you on?” About a dozen police and security watching,” she said.

“Protesters finished the last mile of a 40 day and 400 mile climate march from New Orleans in Houston today. They marched to raise awareness of climate disasters (hurricanes, pollution, TX freeze),” she said.

“When the group arrived at Cruz’s residence, they had just completed 400 mile march from New Orleans to Houston to raise awareness for climate disasters such as hurricanes, pollutions, and the Texas freeze that hit early Spring,” National Review reported.
It is not the first time that Sen. Cruz and Rep. Ocasio-Cortez’s paths have crossed as, in January, Rep. Ocasio-Cortez accused Sen. Cruz of almost having her “murdered,” And it started after they agreed on, that trading platform Robinhood’s decision to restrict the trading of GameStop was bad and worth investigating.
Ocasio-Cortez called it “unacceptable” on Twitter.
“We now need to know more about @RobinhoodApp’s decision to block retail investors from purchasing stock while hedge funds are freely able to trade the stock as they see fit,” she said.
This is unacceptable.

As a member of the Financial Services Cmte, I’d support a hearing if necessary. https://t.co/4Qyrolgzyt

Cruz’s response: “Fully agree.”

Then, AOC couldn’t put her partisanship aside and accused Cruz of trying to have her “murdered” three weeks ago, referring to the riots at the U.S. Capitol on January 6.
I am happy to work with Republicans on this issue where there’s common ground, but you almost had me murdered 3 weeks ago so you can sit this one out.
Happy to work w/ almost any other GOP that aren’t trying to get me killed.
In the meantime if you want to help, you can resign. https://t.co/4mVREbaqqm

“While you conveniently talk about “moving on,” a second Capitol police officer lost their life yesterday in the still-raging aftermath of the attacks you had a role in. This isn’t a joke. We need accountability, and that includes a new Senator from Texas,” she wrote in an additional tweet.
“You haven’t even apologized for the serious physical + mental harm you contributed to from Capitol Police & custodial workers to your own fellow members of Congress. In the meantime, you can get off my timeline & stop clout-chasing. Thanks. Happy to work with other GOP on this,” she added.
That caused 13 Republicans to demand that she apologize for making the statement.
“It has come to our attention that Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez sent out a tweet in which she accused Senator Cruz, in essence, of attempted murder,” the letter to House Speaker and California Rep. Nancy Pelosi said. “We believe this is completely unacceptable behavior for a member of Congress to make this kind of scurrilous charge against another member, in the House or Senate, for simply engaging in speech and debate regarding electors as they interpreted the Constitution.”
“We ask you to call on her to immediately apologize and retract her comments. It is our sincere hope that we all stop this heightened rhetoric and move forward to actually do the work the American people sent us here to do,” they continue.
