Republican New York City councilwoman Inna Vernikov was arrested on Friday for allegedly carrying her firearm during a pro-Palestinian rally at Brooklyn College.

Vernikov, who is originally from Ukraine, posted a video of herself at the march on social media Friday, writing, “If you’re standing w/ the protestors, yelling ‘GLOBALIZE THE INTIFADA’ & ‘FROM THE RIVER TO THE SEA, PALESTINE WILL BE FREE’ while innocent women and babies are being raped, massacred and beheaded, you’re a HAMAS supporter & apologist who would like to bring the terror here to rid the world of the Jewish people. We will never remain silent.”

In the video, the NYC councilwoman said she was there to make sure Jewish students were safe as the demonstration took place near Brooklyn College.

Despite having a permit to carry the sidearm on Friday, the same day Hamas marked as the time for Muslims to kill Jews and their allies worldwide, Vernikov was charged with violating a recent city law banning citizens from carrying weapons at protests.

The NYPD released a statement following the arrest, saying, “At no point in time was anyone menaced or injured as a result of her possessing the firearm at the earlier protest.”

According to the police, after contact was made with Vernikov she arrived at a Brooklyn police station with her attorney where she was charged with criminal possession of a firearm and had to turn over her gun and permit.

Leave it to a liberal hellhole like New York City to strip a public official of the right to defend themselves on the day of Jihad.
