CV NEWS FEED // The International Monetary Fund (IMF) canceled a talk by one of the world’s top scientists after he stated that he does not believe there is a “climate crisis.” 

Dr. John Clauser was one of three physicists awarded the 2022 Nobel Prize in Physics. He received the high honor “for experiments with entangled photons, establishing the violation of Bell inequalities and pioneering quantum information science.”

Clauser was scheduled to speak to the IMF via Zoom on Tuesday, July 25. However, this planned discussion on climate models was canceled just days before. 

According to a statement by CO2 Coalition, an environmental nonprofit organization which dissents from the “climate crisis” theory, IMF official Pablo Moreno “had read the flyer for John’s July 25 zoom talk and summarily and immediately canceled the talk.” The statement adds that “technically, it was ‘postponed.’”

As Newsweek reported, Clauser was told that Moreno decided to cancel the seminar because he “feared that [Clauser] might say technical things that were over his head and that he couldn’t understand.”

The decorated physicist has been a longtime critic of the so-called “scientific consensus on climate change.”

While speaking as an honored guest at Quantum Korea 2023, a physics conference which took place in Seoul, South Korea one month ago, Clauser stated: 

I don’t believe there is a climate crisis. The world we live in today is filled with misinformation. It is up to each of you to serve as judges, distinguishing truth from falsehood based on accurate observations of phenomena.

He added that “key processes are exaggerated and misunderstood by approximately 200 times.”

Clauser has said that while he does not believe there is a “climate crisis,” 

There is, however, a very real problem with providing a decent standard of living to the world’s large population and an associated energy crisis. The latter is being unnecessarily exacerbated by what, in my opinion, is incorrect climate science.

Similarly, he has called the popular narrative on climate change a “dangerous corruption of science that threatens the world’s economy and the well-being of billions of people.”

The Nobel Prize website describes some of the 80-year-old Clauser’s other scientific contributions over his long and storied career.

In 1972, John Clauser conducted groundbreaking experiments using entangled light particles, photons. This and other experiments confirm that quantum mechanics is correct and pave the way for quantum computers, quantum networks and quantum encrypted communication.

The IMF is a financial institution that was founded at the end of World War II and currently serves 190 member nations. While it operates within the United Nations (UN) system, it is an independent organization and is not run by the UN. According to its official website:

The IMF has three critical missions: furthering international monetary cooperation, encouraging the expansion of trade and economic growth, and discouraging policies that would harm prosperity. To fulfill these missions, IMF member countries work collaboratively with each other and with other international bodies.

The UN’s website states that the IMF “currently has $28 billion in outstanding loans to 74 nations.”
