Biden Administration Vaccine Mandate for Federal Workers
The White House is asking a federal judge to intervene in order to revive Joe Biden’s vaccination requirement for all federal employees. The mandate has been halted by a lower court.
The motion comes after the 5th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals in New Orleans reversed its decision to ban the COVID-19 vaccination mandate for civilian government workers by a vote of 2-1 last week.
Attorneys for the Department of Justice requested the appeals court on Monday to take “appropriate actions” to allow the agency to continue enforcing Biden’s federal vaccination requirement.
They added that the measures are “justified by the serious ongoing harm to the public interest and to the government,” even though virus numbers are low across the country and health officials in many states no longer view it as a major threat.
