‘Does It Say That In The Bill?’

On Monday, Florida Republican Gov. Ron DeSantis slammed a reporter who attempted to question him about a bill dubbed “Don’t Say Gay” by its detractors.

Reporter Evan Donovan posted a video to Twitter of the encounter, in which he asked DeSantis if he backed the bill. DeSantis forced the reporter to explain what is in the bill, which bans classroom instruction on gender identity and sexual orientation.

Demanding Accountability

“For who?” DeSantis demanded. “For grades pre-k through three. So five-year-olds, six-year-olds, seven-year-olds — and the idea that you wouldn’t be honest about that and tell people what it actually says, it’s why people don’t trust people like you because you peddle false narratives.”

DeSantis also blasted Joe Biden and his administration over the Russia-Ukraine war this week, implying that he is exhibiting the same “weakness” that former President Barack Obama exhibited when Russian forces took Crimea in 2014.
