In Protest of Carlson’s Jan. 6 Special, Two Fox News Figures Quit Network

After Tucker Carlson’s new show Patriot Purge premiered on Fox News, two longstanding Fox News contributors resigned.
After the show aired on Fox’s online subscription streaming service Fox Nation, Jonah Goldberg and Stephen Hayes left the network, according to New York Times reporter Ben Smith.
According to the New York Times, after seeing the trailer for the show, Goldberg and Hayes texted each other and considered leaving Fox News.
Carlson, Tucker Tonight is consistently the highest-rated prime-time cable news program, outperforming competing networks.
Goldberg told the Times in an interview: “Whether it’s Patriot Purge or anti-vaxstuff, I don’t want it in my name, and I want to call it out and criticize it. I don’twant to feel like I am betraying a trust that I had by being a Fox Newscontributor. And I also don’t want to be accused of not really pulling thepunches. And then this was just an untenable tension for me.”
