Written in Portuguese, in “The New Era and Cultural Revolution,” the writer and greatest living philosopher, Olavo de Carvalho, explores subjects you will not see on TV or even on the internet. Even the introduction of the book is fascinating, with Carvalho’s ideas and wisdom.

The book is part of a trilogy. The second part is a book called “The Garden of Afflictions,” and the third volume entitled “Collective Imbecile.” We read about matters little talked about and start to understand the strategy of a very important man in the cultural revolution and change of thought in Brazil, Antonio Gramsci. Gramsci was an Italian politician and writer, with a unique genius. He was so brilliant that the fascist Benito Mussolini kept him in captivity for years. Mussolini was afraid and believed that Gramsci would be more useful if he were away from everyone and incarcerated. This is an attribute widely used by the world left called the Overton Window. It was used, along with Gramsci’s studies, to establish left hegemony in Brazil. The workers’ party created in the 1980s was the fruit of leftists in the 1960s and 1970s.

In it, Gramsci reverses Lenin’s formula, which preached the establishment of communism and the last stage of socialism through armed struggle. Gramsci reversed the formula and in his 33 notebooks of studies, he said taking a country happens by taking the cultural media – mainly newspapers, TV stations, and radios – colleges and schools, and the culture itself. With this formula and study by Gramsci, ex-president Fernando Henrique Cardoso, with his successor ex-president Lula, took over Brazil.

With the Brazilian population taken over by the Gramsci cultural revolution, unable to react, he led Brazil to partner with dictatorships all over the world, while Brazilians suffered for decades with the lack of money, jobs, and studies. The process carried out in Brazil was also done worldwide. In the United States, a man named Saul Alinsky did the same, infiltrating American politics and helping to change the direction of the Democratic party.
