RIGHT NOW At NRN w/Dylan Slaughter: Obviously Trump Won, But No One Expected It

Yet more polls come out in favor of Donald Trump this week. His favorability rating has now surpassed that of former President Barack Obama. According to Newsweek, that isn’t just with Rasmussen, the poll most deem as fair and unbiased. Newsweek reports that “Trump’s approval rating on Wednesday was 44.3 percent, according to a Real Clear Politics average of more than a half-dozen major polls. That is higher than Obama’s average approval rating of 43.9 percent on September 18, 2011, by the same measure.”[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row column_type=”block” font_color=”light” background_type=”video” video_bg_url=”https://youtu.be/0kmsGNq7luc” video_bg_start_time=”139″ video_bg_end_time=”900″ video_bg_parallax=”true” bt_text=”POLITICS” bt_font_weight=”300″ bt_font_style=”italic” shift_y=”0″ z_index=”0″ add_bigtext=”true” min_height=”100″ bt_max_width=”300″][vc_column][wvc_video_opener caption_position=”bottom” video_url=”https://youtu.be/0kmsGNq7luc” caption=”Politics Spotlight | Interview with DYLAN SLAUGHTER”][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]The president’s approval rating soared past Obama’s on Monday, where it topped out at 44.1%, and it stayed on top for the next few days. The president’s poll ratings versus Obama for the week by date are:

September 18: Trump 44.3 percent vs. Obama 43.9 percent
September 17: Trump 44 percent vs. Obama 43.8 percent
September 16: Trump 44.1 percent vs. Obama 43.9 percent
September 15: Trump 43.9 percent vs. Obama 44 percent
September 14: Trump 43.8 percent vs. Obama 44 percent
September 13: Trump 43.3 percent vs. Obama 43.9 percent
September 12: Trump 43.4 percent vs. Obama 43.7 percent
September 11: Trump 43.1 percent vs. Obama 43.3 percent

Of course, the president hasn’t said anything about topping Obama, but it is a major boost for him. On Monday, President Trump tweeted about Rassmussen polling him at 50%. What some claim is a Conservative leaning polling site consistently rates the president higher than it’s left leaning counterparts, but also gave Obama a fair polling at 46% at the same point in his presidency.

Dylan Slaughter: Democrats Versus Conservatives

DNC strategists must be using a lot of heartburn meds these days. A recent Gallup Poll claimed that more people identified as Conservative than as Liberal in 43 States! The usual Democrat strongholds and a couple others are the exception. New York, California, Hawaii, New Hampshire, Massachusetts, Vermont and Washington. In New Hampshire, the Congressional delegation was put there by the grace of 3 out of the four big cities in NH. NRN sat down with Dylan Slaughter, the Chairman of the Buckingham Republican Committee and a recent graduate of Liberty University where he received his Bachelors in Government.

Dylan provided some perspective on the topic of rural areas, and the polls tendency to keep rural population numbers under wraps. He told NRN’s Brittany Slaughter that “Rural Virginia is like you say. Around Buckingham there’s not, like, a city most people are used to. There’s forests, farms, fields. Your nextdoor neighbor might be two miles away. However, after looking at the 2016 election results, you’re going to see a map of America with mostly red covering the entire country, and a few blue dots. Those few blue dots are the cities. The areas that are more populated. However, the rural areas make up a lot more of the country geographically, and there’s a lot more people in those areas than you think, or the polls would let on.”

Dylan Slaughter: Conservatives Are the Ones Who Have Jobs

Some of the most Conservative states are: Mississippi, Alabama, South Dakota, Louisiana, Wyoming, West Virginia, Tennessee, Arkansas, Utah, and South Carolina. The Electoral College makes this have meaning. Without it, the President Would be chosen by the coastal cities and Chicago. Dylan says the rural areas, what is known as flyover country, are a lot more Republican than Americans are led to believe, or what is seen on the news.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][wvc_audio_embed link=”https://open.spotify.com/episode/7d2eIa9os3awHfFYkgXH2m”][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]According to Gallup, Conservatives outnumber Liberals by 9%. However they outnumber them in 25 states! This is why the Electoral College is needed. Democrats have pressed hard to eliminate it since Al Gore in 2000. Dylan Slaughter gives his opinion on why Conservatives outnumber Democrats, and whether or not he thought that number would decline.

“A couple of different things to answer your question with. I think, right now, the Liberals are very loud. You hear them more than you do the Conservatives. It’s like, if there was one person standing there with a megaphone, screaming at the top of their lungs, and then a thousand others standing there kinda mumbling, who are you going to hear? The Megaphone. I think you saw that in 2016. Obviously Trump won, but no one expected it. Even some Conservatives didn’t expect it.”

He goes on to say, “But part of what happened was, you hear the Liberals so much because they’re screaming and yelling and going crazy, and the Conservatives are the ones who have jobs. They’re out there working, they’re not spending time on these polls. They’re not spending time screaming and whining about everything. So when they go out there to vote, it’s not such a big surprise there’s actually more of them. They’re just not loudmouths.”

On the issue of the number of Conservatives declining over the coming years, Dylan had this to say: “The colleges these days and the schools are really starting to indoctrinate kids with this Liberal Socialism mentality that everyone is equal. Everyone should be treated exactly the same. Everyone deserves healthcare, and college, and voting privileges and all this stuff, even if you’re from Mexico or wherever. But the problem is when they give out all that free stuff and just want to put that in kids heads, it’s starting to spread. It scares me to death to think there might be enough kids going through college in four years from now, they’re going to outnumber Conservatives.”

Biden, Sanders Still Democrat Darlings

Though Sanders and Biden supposedly lead Trump in recent general election head-to-head-polls, Trump’s favorable rating among Americans is on par with theirs. The large numbers of likely Democrat voters with no opinion on candidates shows that it will be some time before a real frontrunner emerges.

In another Gallup Poll, Biden and Sanders still rated favorably among 7 out of 10 Democrats. Biden is slipping a bit no doubt in part due to recent gaffes, but the die-hards aren’t swayed. Dylan was asked why he thought that was the case. “Starting with Joe Biden, I think part of the popularity surrounding him is name recognition, since he was vice president under Barack Obama. A lot of people recognize the name, they’ve seen the face. He’s been around, so that’s a familiar face with them.”

Slaughter continues with “Another thing is, he is supposed to be, in this election, sort of the Democrat’s moderate voice of reason. The party itself is straying so far to the left with the Green New Deal, no borders, get rid of ICE. It’s getting outrageous. But Biden was supposed to be that moderate voice of in the middle. What we’re seeing is Biden is not even staying in the middle. He’s drifting left, and left, and left, to appease those types of voters rather than sticking to the more classic type of Democrat, which are the ones giving him that popularity. Bernie is almost like his opponent. The two faces of the Democrat party, if you will. The Socialist and the Moderate.”[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row]
