Joe Biden has officially thrown his hat in the ring for the 2020 presidential election. Biden joins 19 other notable Democrat hopefuls and two Republicans including incumbent President Trump. Thus far, 683 candidates have registered with the Federal Elections Committee (FEC) to run for president. Is it to early to predict a Bernie 2.0?

After much media speculation, Biden announced his intention to run via online video. This will be Biden’s third bid for president. His first bid was over 30 years ago in 1987. Having been unsuccessful his last two times, Biden seems hopeful that this will be the year that he finally secures a seat in the Oval Office.

Biden’s Platform Against President Trump

After two failed presidential bids, one may wonder what Biden will run on. It is apparent that Biden’s platform will consist mainly of fear mongering. Biden has said “I knew the threat to this nation was unlike any I had seen in my lifetime,” referring to the Charlottesville riots and President Trump’s response.

However, as Charles Payne pointed out, there have been quite a few other threats in Biden’s lifetime. These include WWII, the Korean War, the Vietnam War, the Iraq War, the Flu Pandemic 1968, and the AIDS Pandemic. Even with all these events, Biden will paint the Trump White House as the greatest threat to America.

Biden, in his video announcing his bid for president, had several things to say about President Trump and the state of this nation. He said, “If we give Donald Trump eight years in the White House, he will forever and fundamentally alter the character of this nation, who we are, and I cannot stand by and watch that happen.” Biden also claims that “We are in the battle for the soul of this nation.” It appears that the strategy will include attempting to scare voters into voting for Biden.

Will Democrats Tear Each Other Apart?

The 20 Democrat candidates that have announced a 2020 presidential bid have some competing ideologies. Some of the candidates include Cory Booker, Pete Buttigieg, Kamala Harris, Beto O’Rourke, Bernie Sanders, Elizabeth Warren and now Joe Biden. Most of these candidates are very vocal, very opinionated, and very different from each other.

Each being desperate to unseat President Donald Trump, it is likely that the battle will get vicious. In addition, there is plenty of time for more people to enter the race. The Democrat primary campaigns should provide plenty of ammo, in the form of tearing each other apart, for the Republicans to use when the general election process begins.

Can Joe Biden Overcome Being a White Man

Interestingly, pundits are saying that the forerunners in the Democrat race will be Joe Biden and Bernie Sanders. However, with the Democrats against old white men, will either be able to pull ahead of the women and minorities that are also running? In the event that Biden or Sanders secures the nomination, how will Democrats explain their acceptance of these old white men?

Is Biden the ultimate embarrassment to our country?

One thing is for certain, the race to the 2020 White House will be nothing short of entertaining. President Trump is already responding via Twitter to Democrat hopefuls. Trump has already begun giving candidates nicknames as he did in the Republican primary in 2016. Biden has been dubbed “Sleepy Joe” by President Trump. In addition, he welcomed him to the race and wished him luck while warning him that the Democrat primaries will be “nasty.”

Biden has Skeletons in his Closet

If Joe Biden does secure the Democrat primary nomination, he will have to contend with the Trump Economy. Having been a part of the Obama administration, more specifically the Vice President at the time, he will have the abysmal Obama economy hanging over his head. Will Biden try to separate himself from the Democrat sweetheart Barrack Obama? Or, will he try to convince Americans that “Hey, the economy was not that bad when I was the VP”?

In addition to his record with the Obama administration, Biden has other claims against him. For years people have called him “Creepy Uncle Joe.” Americans have taken note of Biden’s “too close for comfort” approach with women and children. Unfortunately for Biden, the internet is forever and there is much material to be brought to the forefront. As we gear up for the 2020 election, it will be very interesting to see what happens with the Democrat Party.
